Collectivism and Individualism in Biblical Tribes

I just wrote an outline for a series of articles I am planning regarding biblical tribalism as evidenced in the Old Testament. Why is this important? Because much of biblical law is meaningless on an individual level. It must be practiced by a collective. Furthermore, YHWH’s covenants were always with tribes. Even seemingly individual covenants, such as with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, were actually with them and their descendants. One cannot read the bible without concluding that YHWH cares very much about tribes, and wants to prosper them. As the articles unfold, we’ll see how tribalism worked in biblical society, and how we can go about starting our own tribes in the context of modern society. Stay tuned.
