  • Curses of Disobedience to יהוה

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I יהוה thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; Thou shalt not take the name of יהוה thy God in vain; for יהוה will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exodus 20:5,7

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I יהוה thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of יהוה thy God in vain: for יהוה will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Deuteronomy 5:9-11

And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. Deuteronomy 7:10

As the nations which יהוה destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of יהוה your God. Deuteronomy 8:20

Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak! Understand therefore this day, that יהוה thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as יהוה hath said unto thee. Speak not thou in thine heart, after that יהוה thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness יהוה hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations יהוה doth drive them out from before thee. Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations יהוה thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which יהוה sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Deuteronomy 9:1-5

And then יהוה’S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which יהוה giveth you.8 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of יהוה your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. And it shall come to pass, when יהוה thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal. Deuteronomy 11:17,28,29

יהוה will not spare him, but then the anger of יהוה and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and יהוה shall blot out his name from under heaven. And יהוה shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law: So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which יהוה hath laid upon it; And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which יהוה overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath יהוה done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of יהוה God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: And the anger of יהוה was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: And יהוה rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 29:20-28

But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. Deuteronomy 30:17,18

And when יהוה saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men: Deuteronomy 32:19,26
