    Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which יהוה shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. Deuteronomy 28:48

    And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. Judges 6:15

    Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul; Job 3:20

    If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him; If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.     For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing. Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry. Job 22:6,7

    For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. Psalms 9:18

    Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because יהוה is his refuge. Psalms 14:6

    The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Psalms 37:14

    Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him. The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. Proverbs 19:1,4,7,22

    Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich. Proverbs 21:13,17

    Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich. The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out. As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people. He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. Proverbs 28:6,11,15,27

    Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is יהוה? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men. Proverbs 30:9,14

    Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.Proverbs 31:9,20

    Better is a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished. For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor. Ecclesiastes 4:13,14

    For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living? Ecclesiastes 6:8

    Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. Ecclesiastes 9:15,16

    The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. Isaiah 32:7

    He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith יהוה. Jeremiah 22:16

    But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time. Jeremiah 39:10

    Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon; Jeremiah 40:7

    Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.Jeremiah 52:15

    But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen. Jeremiah 52:16

    They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field. Lamentations 4:9

    But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: Luke 14:13(21)

    Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; 1 Corinthians 4:11

    If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 1 Corinthians 15:19

    For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

    Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. Galatians 2:10

    I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.Revelation 2:9

    Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: Revelation 3:17
